Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
The ALICE Report
The Iowa Credit Union Foundation is proud to be a sponsor of the United Ways of Iowa 2018 ALICE Report. We hope by sharing this information a brighter light may shine on the continued need, as well as the work credit unions and community organizations have implemented, to address the financial needs of individuals and families across Iowa.
What is ALICE?
ALICE is an acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are working families that have income above the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), but cannot make ends meet each month.
How many Iowans are impacted?
The 2018 report details the number of Iowans impacted on a county-by-county level. The new report uncovers that more than 30% of Iowa’s households with children live below the ALICE threshold and over 40% of Iowa’s senior households qualify as ALICE. Iowa households are facing continual struggle to meet basic expenses despite working, earning and paying taxes.
